Thought of the Day 1/16/2020

“Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God! Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground!” Psalms‬ ‭143:10‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

This should be the cry of every believer’s heart and soul. Faith is not simply one moment in time when you choose to believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross (and rose from the grave three days later) to pay the price of your sins to make right your relationship with your Creator God. Rather, faith is a journey throughout our time here on earth. It involves putting our trust in what we cannot see but what we feel and what we know to be true. It also demands that we not remain stagnant in our journey; we should constantly be seeking God’s will for our lives that we might walk on that “level ground” He has prepared for us. How are you doing on your faith journey? Do you need a fuel up? Reach out to God right now — wherever you are and whatever you are doing — and ask for His guidance.

Thought of the Day 1/31/2020

“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:18‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

Note: “…in all circumstances”. This exhortation to give thanks is not for when God has met a specific need, answered a particular prayer, or in general “life is grand”. It is in fact an exhortation to give thanks to our Creator and Savior in ALL circumstances, good or bad. The two verses preceding this one compel us to: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17). Again, it is noted to be doing these things “always” and “without ceasing”, not merely when we feel God has “done right” by us. If we practice these actions of always rejoicing no matter the season we are in, keeping in constant communication with Him through prayer, and thanking Him for all He does for us each and every day (even the things we do not see), it is then we will find ourselves in line with His will for our lives. When we are aligned with the will of God for our lives, how can we not “give thanks in all circumstances” knowing that He is working all things out for good (Romans 8:28) to accomplish His will and His perfect plan? A truly beautiful circle of love, grace, mercy, truth, and peace!
