Thought of the Day 1/2/2020

“Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things! His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for him. The Lord has made known His salvation; He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations.” Psalms‬ ‭98:1-2‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

Take a moment to think it over: God had such a great love for us that though we as sinners were separated from Him, He would not allow that to be our final fate. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, as the intermediary and redeemer of our sins. All we have to do is trust Jesus as the Son of God and seek forgiveness for our sins that keep us from God. Once we have been made right with God our hearts, being made clean, will burst forth with a song of praise to the One who created us and loves us with an everlasting love. Are you right with God, and this able to sing this song of praise? If not, please contact us for more information on how you can become redeemed by the blood of Christ.

Thought of the Day 1/10/2020

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalms‬ ‭73:26‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

The Psalmist here in today’s verse understands the brevity and fragility of his own life. He understands that circumstances will arise where, in sickness or trials or even death, he will not be mentally, emotionally, or physically strong enough to overcome them. However, he also holds an important treasure in knowing that God will always be the strength for him when he cannot overcome what life puts in front of him. When contemplating trials of this life, and even ultimately death itself, are you able to say with such confidence as the Psalmist that God will be “the strength of [your] heart and [your] portion forever”?

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalms‬ ‭119:105‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

Truly this is a dark and fallen world that we live in, and sometimes it can be so hard to know which way to go or what to do amidst all the darkness. It is especially in those times that we need to be like the Psalmist and dive into the Word of God. His Word will not only light up the darkness around us and illuminate the path He has planned for us, but it will empower us to shine His light to those who are lost in a sea of darkness. Have you recharged your spiritual light lately? Get into the Word right now — put down your phone or tablet and take some time with God.

“Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God! Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground!” Psalms‬ ‭143:10‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

This should be the cry of every believer’s heart and soul. Faith is not simply one moment in time when you choose to believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross (and rose from the grave three days later) to pay the price of your sins to make right your relationship with your Creator God. Rather, faith is a journey throughout our time here on earth. It involves putting our trust in what we cannot see but what we feel and what we know to be true. It also demands that we not remain stagnant in our journey; we should constantly be seeking God’s will for our lives that we might walk on that “level ground” He has prepared for us. How are you doing on your faith journey? Do you need a fuel up? Reach out to God right now — wherever you are and whatever you are doing — and ask for His guidance.

Thought of the Day 1/22/2020

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms‬ ‭37:4‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

Alright! The verse we have been waiting for! Just be happy with God and He will give you whatever you want! Wait. Is that what this verse really means? Well, there are certainly many false teachers out there that would lead you to believe so; however, there is a slight problem. The problem arises with “desires”, and what desires do you have — ones that line up with God’s will and righteousness, or carnal desires of wealth and prosperity? In order to obtain any of the “desires of your heart” you must first “delight yourself in the Lord” by following His direction for your life, reading, studying, and applying His Word to your life, maintaining a healthy prayer life, and fellowship with fellow believers. These actions will tune your heart to God so that what you desire is what He desires for you and through you. So yes, God will give you the “desires of your heart”, if you will make your focus Him and His will for you.

Thought of the Day 1/27/2020

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalms‬ ‭19:14‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

Unfortunately in today’s world, when we hear the world “pious” our first thoughts tend to go towards someone who is egotistical, self-righteous, vain, or even hypocritical. However, I believe we can rightly call the Psalmist here a pious man, though not under those definitions. He was pious in that he had the true hope and desire that he would be wholly, completely devoted to His Lord. With complete devotion unto God comes the desire to maintain only pure and righteous thoughts, speech, and even actions. This was the piety the Psalmist possessed as he so desperately pleaded to God to redirect his words and thoughts of his heart from their carnal leanings toward God’s righteous will for his life, all for the honor and glory of God. What kind of piety are you exhibiting? How are your thoughts and what kind of words are you allowing to come forth from your lips?

Thought of the Day 6/25/2020

“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Psalm‬ ‭121:1-2‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

When you get a flat tire or your car breaks down on the interstate, you call a tow truck or roadside assistance to help you. Now, what if you just lost your job? Your spouse? Experienced the death of a loved one? Sure, you can pick up the phone and call a trusted friend, another relative, a counselor or pastor, but even the best advice that they can offer pales to the healing you could receive. To receive this healing, peace, and comfort, we must turn to God, our Creator, in times of great turmoil and stress; for only He can truly offer everlasting help.

Do you need that kind of today? We would love to help join you in prayer, please reach out to us in any of the ways listed below, or join our livestream tonight on FB at 9:00pm EST.

Thought of the Day 12/31/2020

“Let me hear in the morning of Your steadfast love, for in You I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul.” Psalm‬ ‭143:8‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

It is possible David pled this to God in the literal nighttime, or perhaps meant it figuratively as he was experiencing a spiritual darkness. Either way, he is pleading for God to show David His steadfast love “in the morning”. Whether literal or figurative morning, David desires it quickly and expediently for it is in the steadfast love of God that David has put his trust. It is my earnest prayer that each of you could say the same. David trusted in God for his salvation and hope even in the darkness. He also sought direction from the Lord in “the way [he] should go”. David wanted to know the Lord’s will for his life so that he could walk in the safety of righteousness and solid ground. When we walk in this way we can avoid the ever present dangers of the enemy, who “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭ESV‬‬) Seek out the Lord and His direction for your life that you may keep yourself from the enemy.

Thought of the Day December 28, 2020

Thought of the Day
December 28, 2020

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm‬ ‭34:4‬ (‭ESV‬‬)

David says here in this Psalm that he “sought the Lord”. This is not merely looking left, right, up, or down to find God; rather, David earnestly fell before the Lord in complete and faithful surrender. He trusted that the Lord had not only the ability to deliver him from the fears he experienced, but the love and desire for David to see that he had help in his hour of need. This is not to say that at every twist and turn of life we as Christians can expect to have God save us from pain and trouble, but to say that God will meet us there and see us through. Though the fear that David had is not specifically mentioned here, how many of us can relate to that emotion right now? No matter if it be fear of the pandemic, wondering about our next paycheck or whether there will be enough food for our family or money to buy needed medications, fear of the political changes and division in this country, or fear over a myriad of other diseases that affect our loved ones or ourselves. There is certainly much to fear in this broken world. However, if we, like David, turn to the Lord and sincerely trust in Him to be our all in all, we can find peace and deliverance from all our fears. What fear is most weighing on you today? Will you turn to Him and trust it in His hands?
